Alpha|Geekdom Portfolio v2
Hiring-focused developer portfolio with a custom design system and a 100/100 desktop Lighthouse run
Hiring-focused developer portfolio built with Next.js 16, Tailwind v4, and Motion — server-first architecture, 100/100 desktop Lighthouse across all four categories.
Problem
The original portfolio read like a freelance services page and buried technical depth — it wasn't positioning me for full-time developer roles.
Goal
Rebuild from scratch around one goal: getting hired. Lead with proof, make projects the centerpiece, and keep every section tight and hiring-manager-friendly.
What I Built
This site — a dark-mode-first Next.js 16 site using Tailwind v4 CSS-first config, server components by default, thin client islands for scroll animations, and a custom design system with semantic color tokens.
Key Features
- Server-component-first architecture with thin motion islands
- Custom Tailwind v4 color token system (ink/fg/brand/line)
- Animated aurora hero with CSS keyframe blobs
- 100/100 desktop Lighthouse scores across all four categories
- Programmatic OG image generation via next/og
Challenges
- Tailwind v4 reserves certain namespaces (accent, ring) causing silent failures
- Balancing visual polish with zero-JS server components
- Keeping section rhythm consistent while each of the five homepage sections earns a distinct job
Outcome
Live on Netlify and actively maintained — including the projects page you're reading this on. 100/100 desktop Lighthouse scores across all four categories.
